The complete line supplied to G.O.F.I. (The General Organization for Food Industries) in Syria, represents for Procomac an important reference for the Middle East market

The mineral waters production in Syria is still reserved to GOFI (The General Organization of Food Industries), a Syrian Government Agency established in 1975 which manages 22 production companies in the food and beverage sector.
From the beginning of 2005, when the GAFTA agreement (the free exchange with the Arabian countries) has come into force, the national mineral waters have to face a serious competition by all operators of the private business.
Up to now the low cost of the local mineral waters and the strong improvements in the marketing and packaging areas have allowed the two major national brands, Boukein and Driekish, to maintain a significant market portion.
But in order to better face the competition of imported mineral waters, GOFI has planned a series of investments with the aim of setting up new bottling plants and increase the production capacity of existing bottling plants.
One of these new plants will be installed in Ain el-Fijeh, near the very pure water spring which has been supplying Damascus for many hundred years.
Procomac has been chosen by GOFI as technical partner to supply, together with Sipa, a complete filling line for 24,000 bottle per hours in the 1,5 liters, 0,5 liters and 0,33 liters formats.
The line includes, in addition to a Sipa SFR16 blow-moulder, a single treatment Gripstar ACE rinser and a Fillstar SF – PET 2 filler gravity filler with complete bottle neck handling and fast format changeover for bottles with the same neck diameter.
The bottles conveyors and the end-of-line are entrusted to Procomac Packaging experience, which will supply Convair 2000 air conveyors and a low level double infeed palletizer Opera 2000.
This project represents for Procomac an important reference for the Middle East market.
