Low acid milk-based beverages, fermented milk or yogurt with aromas or
other ingredients are the main products of this category. Among these there are
already many consolidated references comprising milk and coffee, milk and
chocolate, smoothies and milkshakes.
These beverages are widely consumed in Northern Europe, Japan and in the
United States where they are valued for their rich protein contribution. These
markets also descend from a tradition of major milk consumption.
In other countries such as central Europe there are significant signs of
development for milk-based products so much so as to predict a shifting away
from sparkling drinks as has occurred in the last few years in other countries.
